The Anthem Athletics Fortitude 2.0 shin guards offer a mid-level of protection for those of you that are participating in combat sports like Kickboxing, Karate, Muay Thai, and other mixed martial arts disciplines. This option is easy to take care of. In addition, you won't have a ton of trouble putting them on or taking them off. Oftentimes, removing your protective gear can be a major burden. The fact that this item makes it easy is an aspect all fighters can appreciate. You will want to be careful when measuring for the correct size. This is because the straps to secure them to your legs are a bit short.

The protection level in the shin and ankle is pretty good but this item is lacking in protection for your feet. This has been said several times by the fighters using them. With that being said, it should offer plenty of protection to those that are just starting out in the world of fight-sports. Additionally, they should also work pretty well for intermediate fighters. Those of you that are experts in your discipline and offer devastating strikes may want to look toward a brand like Hayabusa for a higher level of protection. This will not only be advantageous to you but also to the person you are sparring against or training with. Overall, this is a solid option that is well made. It will suit a variety of fighters quite nicely.

Anthem Athletics specializes in clothing to keep you cool and comfortable during fight training and competitions. They also offer a decent variety of protective gear. This brand uses high-quality materials that are built to last. They continue to put time into developing their products and improving the ones that are already available. This brand has not been around as other leaders in the world of combat sports, however, they truly are making a name for themselves. Their prices tend to be a bit more affordable and their quality is a lot better than many others. They are not the very best available but they certainly offer solid options that will perform well. In addition, you won't have to worry about it if you have any issues. They have a customer service department that fighters truly appreciate. Overall, this brand is doing a lot of things right and will continue to grow. We look forward to reviewing more of their products as they continue to get better.

This brand has done an excellent job with material choices. They are all excellent quality and will stand up to daily abuse. The outside material is made from genuine Buffalo leather. This is slightly different from the cowhide leather that we typically see in this type of item. It is slightly more durable and it looks a bit different. It offers the same advantages of genuine cowhide leather and may last you a longer period of time. As with most other options in the same category they use high-density foam to help keep you protected. There are two elastic straps that help with the fit. You will find these located around the back of the ankle and under the foot. They offer good flexibility and a secure fit. The only other materials you're going to come into contact with our two velcro straps. These are located towards the top and the bottom of the shin guard to secure it to your leg. Consumers have noted that the straps are a bit short so you will want to be careful when you are measuring for the correct size.

The people using this item seem to be very happy with the fit. They have stated multiple times that it is exceptionally secure. You won't notice much movement at all why you are training with this set of shin guards. Obviously, this is a major advantage as you won't have to worry about sustaining injuries from your protective equipment shifting. As noted, the straps that are located on the back of this item are a bit short. This is especially true of the bottom strap. When you are measuring for the size you need to be very careful. In fact, even when you get the sizing right you may find that the straps are too short. Some customers had to add velcro to theirs to be able to close them completely. This can be a pretty big inconvenience, however, it is not going to affect everyone. For the most part, Fighters are able to find a fit that works well for them when choosing this option.

This option is going to breathe a bit better than others you may have experienced in the past. This is due to the fact that they are structured and design without material covering the back of your calf. Some people do prefer the fit that a sleeve style shin guard offers, however, they are exponentially hotter. This item uses two straps across the back which leaves most of your calf exposed. In addition, the bottom of your foot and your toes will be exposed. This improves how hot this item becomes while you are working through arduous training sessions. You will get a better amount of airflow that will help to keep you cooler and more comfortable. Overall, Fighters do not invest in protective equipment for breathability. The fact that this item is a bit cooler than other options is a bonus.

When you invest in this item you'll be getting a mid-level of protection. This item is going to work very well for those of you that are new to the world of Combat Sports and are not delivering devastating blows. In addition, it will work pretty well for intermediate users. If you were taking pretty hard Knox and delivering them it should be able to handle that fairly well. You are going to notice when you are being struck but it shouldn't do any damage. It is important to note that if you are a heavy hitter and you are working with advanced fighters these are likely not going to give you the level of protection that you are looking for. It has been noted by consumer several times that this item is lacking and foot protection. The padding located here is thinner and will not absorb as much shock as the other areas. We were pretty impressed with the fact that it gives good ankle protection. This is an area that is often times lacking so it is nice to see there's a brand that has paid attention to it.

You're going to get a decent level of comfort when using this item. One of the biggest complaints about shin guards, typically, has to do with the straps that go behind your ankle and under your feet. It is common for them to dig into your skin and lead to not only discomfort but also possible skin breakdown. The elastic that this brand uses is not going to cause you these issues. People are very impressed with how the fit in feel is in these locations. In addition, this item is a bit more breathable than other options you have used and therefore will keep you more comfortable in the long run. Another thing that works in the advantage of comfort is that this item will not move around while in use. You won't have to spend time worrying about whether or not you are going to sustain an injury and this improves the level of comfort you experience while this product is in use.

If you are looking for a very lightweight option this is going to be a good one. The pair of these comes in Wang just under one and a half pounds. Using protective gear that is lightweight will play a major role in your overall performance. If your gear is weighing you down you will notice that your muscles fatigue more quickly and your recovery times may be extended. Due to the fact that you wear several different pieces of protective gear while sparring this can be a major disadvantage in your performance. The fact that this item is so exceptionally lightweight is an advantage to you. It will keep you more comfortable and cool. On top of all that you won't have to worry about these slowing you down or making you overly tired as you're working through different activities in your routine.

There are a few advantages associated with this product that you won't find with every other set of shin guards out there. First off, these are simple to take on and off. One of the biggest complaints and concerns to shin guards is the fact that they can be impossible to pull off after a sweaty routine. Due to the fact that you will simply be able to unstrap these ones taking them off will be barely an inconvenience. Another advantage of using this product is the excellent ankle protection that you are going to get. Our ankles are exceptionally susceptible to injury so, the fact that you won't have to worry about it will help keep your mind in the game. This item is also made from exceptionally durable materials. You'll be able to train with them consistently and not worry about them breaking down. When you make an investment like this into your safety and choose activities you want to know that it's going to hold up.

There are really only two major downfalls to this product, however, they definitely need to be taken into consideration before deciding if they are the right choice for you. The first thing that consumers are complaining about is the fact that the straps are very short. If you even have relatively thick calves you may not be able to close these in which case they're not going to work at all. Many people have been able to make slight adjustments to make it work. They are doing things like adding extra pieces of velcro to lengthen the strap. The other issue that consumers have with this item is that the foot protection it offers is limited. The bones in the tops of your feet are very fragile and susceptible to injury. This means that you need a high level of protection to ensure that you can continue to participate in your favorite combat sport.

When you invest in this item you will be getting a great value. The cost of this is a bit cheaper than the others. It will fit into most budgets fairly easily without much saving time if any at all. It is important you think about the level of protection you need before you go with this product. It does offer a decent amount of coverage and protection to the people using them. It is lacking a bit in foot protection, however, if you are a beginner or intermediate fighter that should be just fine. It is made up of materials that are truly meant to last you throughout years of training. This means that you won't have to worry about buying a new pair after only a few uses. Unfortunately, lesser brands use lesser materials that will break down quickly and leave you without protection until a new set can get there. You won't have to worry about that with this product.

Bottom Line

When it comes down to it, Anthem Athletics has done a pretty good job in developing Nation guards. They have paid attention to some of the key areas. The fact that this item will keep your ankles while protected is not something we always see with items from this category. It's true, it is lacking a bit and foot protection and the closure system leaves something to be desired, however, most people are very happy with the performance, fit, and feel that this product provides. You will be making an investment into your fight future when you decide what types of protective gear to go with. Using shin guards is advantageous in keeping you in the game. This option will suit most fighters fairly well. If you do have any issues, this brand's customer service does an excellent job of helping to fix problems.
