Editor's Pros & Cons
Pros
  • High quality
  • Cushioned
  • Durable
Cons
  • A bit high priced

Protection

A necessary component of a boxing glove is that it provides one with a high level of cushioning while in use. The knuckle area of the gloves is highly cushioned; this allows the glove to provide the wearer with the protection that they need when participating in sparring or any of the other heavy-duty activities. The glove is designed from a leather material that enables it to provide the wearer with everything that they need in terms of layering; this keeps the material from breaking and also allows the glove to handle the level of the impact taken in while the gloves are dealing with excessive use. With that being said, the natural curvature of the hand in the glove allows it to give the wearer the sense protection necessary for it to provide the wearer with a decent fit, which in turn results in less damage being dealt to the hand of the wearer.

Quality

Twins Elastic is known for making extremely durable gloves. The material that is found throughout the design of the gloves allow it to give the wearer everything that they need in terms protection, and does that for months, even years on end. The glove is designed from a soft leather material that is known for having a decent amount of longevity; one of the quirks of leather is that it is unnaturally soft and allows for extremely long use in a pair of gloves without worrying the wearer as to whether or not they’ll break/tear the gloves or not. The gloves feature the base Velcro material that works to ensure that the wearer is able to tighten the gloves to the best of his/her ability; some gloves with this material experience a sort of bunching of this material that takes away from the quality of the strap, but this one does not. Aside from these things, the seams on the gloves are rather well-done and resist any of the possible tears that may come with it; this is another feature of a boxing glove that one must pay attention to if they don’t want to worry about constant replacement.

Design

The design of the Elastic Thai is pretty much standard. The glove itself has all of the standard curves that boxing gloves nowadays are fitted with. The curves of the thumb on the glove are where one should pay real attention; the thumb of the glove is actually curved to the point that it fits the wearer’s hand rather naturally and makes it somewhat easy to form a fist while the glove is on. The mitt of the glove works in much the same way as the thumb portion and curves almost seamlessly into a fist while the glove is on the wearer’s hand. This results in a comfortable feel for the wearer that compliments the wearer while the glove is in use. The colors of the glove itself are rather standard in that they aren’t too flashy; the black version of the gloves are rather mute and professional looking while they are worn, which may be a plus for some. The glove is also designed with the standard elastic strapping on the wrist which allows them to provide the wearer with a bit of wrist support while the wearer is throwing punches; to the same point, the glove features elastic strapping along with the Velcro that improves the fit that is provided to the glove while it is in use. The glove also has a combination of both Satin and Nylon materials that allow it to provide the wearer with a decent level of comfort while in use; this will be discussed in more depth in later sections in this review.

Fit

The fitting of these gloves is rather amazing to be honest. The gloves, as mentioned earlier, curve to the shape and size of the wearer’s hand and provides them with the level of comfort and flex that they’ll need when making a fist; the leather make of the glove is the primary reason for this level of flexibility. The glove is designed from a soft-leather material that allows the wearer to easily move while the glove is on hand and reduces the usual break-in time that is required. The strapping on the neck of the glove only works to enhance the natural fit of the material while it is on the wearer’s hand due to the snugness that it provides; the Velcro material attaches with such a level of ferocity that the wearer doesn’t have to worry about any possible discomfort or looseness while the glove is on hand. The glove is also highly cushioned and prevents most of the excess movement that the wearer’s hand may experience while in use; another critical thing to pay attention to because, as mentioned earlier, a glove that experiences excess movement opens the wearer’s hand up to tremendous levels of spraining and overall damage.

Comfort

In terms of comfort, the material that is found throughout both the exterior and the interior of the glove, allows the wearer to experience all of it that they need while the glove is in use. The majority of the glove is fashioned from a soft leather; usually this wouldn’t hold much weight in a review, but due to the materials surprising malleability the glove moves relatively easily and blends with all of the curves of the wearer’s hand with tremendous ease. The strapping, as mentioned earlier, allows the glove to provide the wearer with the sense of support, which also results in decent levels of comfort due to the snug feel of the material. The interesting thing about the design of the glove is the addition of the satin/nylon material throughout the interior of the gloves. The glove features a level an upper that incorporates the use of a satin material in its design; this gives the glove a comfortable fit and ensures that the wearer has all that they need in terms of moisture-wicking while the glove is in use. The inside’s material is only complimented by the broken-in cushioning that is featured throughout the design of the glove due to the pillow-like feel that it gives to the wearer.

Price

The price range of the glove is nothing that is too out of the ordinary. The Elastic Thai can be found in various places for at an extremely affordable price. The funny thing about the price of the gloves and the longevity of the materials is that it allows the wearer to have all that they need in terms of quality and longevity; as will be discussed in one of the following sections, the make of the gloves allows the wearer to have what they need in terms of value due to the longevity provided. Aside from this, the aesthetic appeal gives the wearer a sense of versatility in what they wear the gloves with; this may not matter, but if you are one of those people who likes to match to the best of their ability these gloves may be for you.

Materials

The materials that are found throughout the design of this particular glove, are of a rather decent quality. The outside of the glove is fashioned from a softer form of leather material that works to reduce the amount of time necessary for the glove to be broken in; always consider this because of the level of the flexibility that it allows one to have in their movements. The cushioning inside of the glove is rather standard and doesn’t require the extremely long break-in times of that provided by other models of a glove; it also allows the wearer to have the level of padding that is necessary for the glove to be extremely comfortable during use. The inside of the mitt (or the space that separates the cushioning from the hand) is designed from a satin/nylon material that allows the glove to provide the wearer with a high level of comfort during wear due to the moisture wicking properties of the material itself.

Reliability

One can almost always expect these gloves to show up to the plate and perform for the wearer. The gloves are of a very high quality and refuse to come up apart without putting up a good and lengthy fight. Leather, by nature, is a tough material; it doesn’t break down very easily and will always work to provide the wearer with what they need when they are in use. The material also ensures that the wearer has the amazing feel an amazing level of durability that is necessary for the glove to continually come through while in use. The other Velcro material that the glove has ensures that the wearer doesn’t have to worry about the glove coming apart/off while in use, which is incredibly important for a glove that deals with such a high level of activity. The other materials on the inside of the glove continually provide the wearer with a sense of comfort and moisture-wicking.

Brand

The gloves are fashioned/designed by Twins Special; they are a leading brand in the creation of boxing gloves and other boxing and Muay Thai gear. They are known for the elastic material that they use to secure the wrist of the gloves and to provide the wearer with the level of security that they need while the glove is in use.

Purpose

The Elastic Thai is essentially a boxing glove; the padding and the neck of the glove are best for those who are seeking something that will provide them with a decent level of support as well as cushion while the glove is in use. Activities such as boxing require a bit more padding in the knuckle area of the glove so as to ensure that the wearer doesn’t fully feel the effects of throwing a blow or potentially damage their knuckles while doing so. The elastic band on the wrist works in much the same way by providing the wearer with the support that they need for their wrists while the gloves are in use; this, much like the padding in the knuckle area, prevents the wearer from ever fully experiencing a high level of injury when throwing a punch at an awkward angle.

Key Features

• Elastic band for wrist support
• Satin/Nylon inside
• Softened leather exterior

Conclusion

These gloves are perfect for those who’re seeking a glove to do some intermediate training in. The gloves feature all of the basic materials such as leather and the Velcro strapping throughout their design that allows them to provide the wearer with a sense of cushioning and support while they are in use; keep in mind that things of this nature are extremely necessary for this area due to the level of injury that is experienced by most boxers. The design of this glove is rather general and gives the wearer a bit of versatility because of the basic colors that are used throughout; this in tandem with the curvature and way that the glove slides onto the wearer’s hand makes the actual experience while the glove is on hand, an extremely pleasurable one. Despite all of the intricate details of the gloves themselves, it is still a beginners glove; it goes above and beyond for the wearer but doesn’t have the level of comfort and padding that is present in the design of the higher-end gloves.
