More often than not, the outer shell is made from genuine leather, however, Venum has chosen to do it a bit different. They use an exceptionally high-quality synthetic leather combined with Buffalo leather for the outer portion of this product. It looks great, is quite durable, and it's simple to care for. There are two large velcro straps that you will use to secure this item to your leg. It is important to note that in the beginning, you may find them to be very tight. The only other materials you will come into contact with are the elastic straps that are located underneath the foot. Obviously, this is used to secure the foot protection to your body.

This is due to the fact that the majority of your calf will be exposed. Obviously, this is going to help to allow heat to escape and improve the overall airflow. They have also used a liner on the inside that will help to move moisture away from your skin. This will help aid in the level of comfort and breathability you experience. The cooler you are the longer you'll be able to train and the more comfortable you will be. There are many different styles of shin guards and you won't be as cool if you wear ones that use a sleeve you slide your leg into. This option is one of the more breathable options. This is something you'll want to take into consideration. If you train on a frequent basis it will happen in no time at all. Overall, most people are pretty happy with the level of comfort they experience and almost everyone else is too after giving this sometime to loosen up.

Weight

The weight of this set of shin guards is average. They come in weighing at just about one and a half pounds. It is important to keep your protective gear light. If you don't you will notice that you aren't moving as quickly as you normally would be. This can leave you open to Stripes you normally wouldn't take. In addition, wearing heavy gear can enhance the muscle fatigue that you experience. You will also notice that your recovery times are lengthened. So, the fact that this is pretty lightweight is going to work in your favor. Again, this is an average weight for this type of product and should not end up weighing you down. Many customers have mentioned how impressed they are with the level of the protection they get and how lightweight this item truly is. Oftentimes, you get one or the other. It's awesome that this brand has been able to work both of these aspects into their product.

Advantages

One of the biggest advantages in using this product over others in the same category as the fact that they have improved the level of protection you will get in some key areas. The InStep of your foot is a very sensitive place that is prone to injury. Taking the time to think about that and add an extra layer of padding is advantageous and part of the reason so many people keep looking towards this brand. They truly do come up with some unique features. This item is also going to give you better coverage than other options. You won't have to worry about inferior protection at the ankle and on the tops of the feet. People also are very impressed with the fit this option offers even if it does take a bit of time to get there. Once this product is broken in it is going to fit exceptionally well and provide you comfortable use even if you're at it for hours.

Disadvantages

There really aren't too many bad things to say about this option from Venom. They truly do put in the work to make great products. As noted, you will have to be patient when braking this product in. This is especially true if you only trained once in a while. Those of you that are added on a daily basis will notice that the break-in time is barely an inconvenience, however, it could be longer for some. The only other negative we have found about this item is that a few people find them to be bulky. This is not necessarily a bad thing is there are no reports of it inhibiting movement. Bulky offers better protection, typically. Realistically, these are not major disadvantages, however, they are definitely something that should be considered before deciding if this is the appropriate item for you. Overall, we feel that they are more inconveniences then disadvantages.

Value

This product is a pretty excellent value. It's going to give you great longevity of use even if you train on a daily basis. This product can seriously handle the abuse that mixed martial arts practice and Tails. The price tag that is associated with it is slightly higher than others in the same category. However, it is definitely not the most expensive option out there. You may have to do a bit of saving to call this item your own but it still won't be a major blow to your budget. When you need top quality protection to ensure that you get to stay in the game this is a solid option. They are built very well and given a bit of time you'll find them to be very comfortable. The level of protection offered is great not only for the fighter that's wearing them but also the person they are training against. Overall, people feel as if this product is well worth the investment and a great value.

Bottom Line

Putting your safety and money into this brand and their options is a solid choice. They stand behind all of their items and, honestly, people are very rarely let down. All of the materials used are high-quality and well-thought-out. Venum doesn't do it the same way as everyone else and this is nice to see. You will be making a decent investment, however, it's going to last you for a very long time. You won't have to stay focused on if your protective gear is actually giving you the level of protection you need. Trusting that it will is an easy thing to do once you have used these shin guards or other pieces of equipment from this brand. All of the reviews surrounding this item are pretty positive. There are very few negative things to be said which is not something we oftentimes find.
