It’s official. Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Per press release, the boxer vs. mixed martial artist bout between the WBC heavyweight champ and the former UFC heavyweight champ will take place inside a regulation boxing ring, under traditional boxing rules. As of this writing, however, it hasn’t been confirmed whether the bout will be an official on-the-records bout or if Fury’s title will be on the line. Most likely, from early indications, though, the answer to the former will be “yes” while the answer to the latter will be “no.”…

This Saturday was supposed to be the confirmation of the two biggest, hungriest contenders to the welterweight throne and to the winner of the upcoming Errol Spence-Terence Crawford 147 lb. unification clash. 20-something killers Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr., long considered to be “next big things” in the division, were to be in action in high-profile main events and the implication was clear– they would be coming for Spence and/or Crawford next. Instead, Ennis will have the spotlight solely on him. Ortiz was forced to pull out of his bout with Eimantas Stanionis in San Antonio due to…

Critics have been commenting on the recently signed bout between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Jermell Charlo. One of those critics seems to be former two-division world champ and current ESPN analyst Timothy Bradley. The recent Hall of Fame inductee believes that Charlo, the unified four-belt junior middleweight world champion may be in over his head against Alvarez, the unified four-belt super middleweight world champion. “I think any fight is competitive. When you have a guy that possessed the type of mettle that both these guys bring into the ring and have accomplished over the years. I mean, Charlo’s no slouch,”…

When Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo was announced, reactions were mixed. Pitting the two unified 4-belt champs against one another, however, was a good marketing ploy. The fight is being billed as “Undisputed vs. Undisputed” and that not only makes for a good looking fight poster, it also makes the fight appealing from a salesman’s point of view. But Charlo, the king of the 154 lb. junior middleweight division, competes two full weight divisions below 168 lb. super middleweight king, Alvarez (who has also competed twice at 175 lbs.). Some are saying that the size differential is just too…

In the past, he’s been tied to a pay-per-view clash with former 3-belt champ Andy Ruiz. As of right now, however, he’s not yet signed to face anyone. With his last bout taking place in October of last year– a first-round blowout of Robert Helenius– the former titlist seems eager to get back into the ring for something big. And, apparently, he’s revisiting the idea of an Andy Ruiz clash. In a recent interview given to ESNews, Wilder…

The DAZN boxing family is not a happy, harmonious one at the moment. As a matter of fact, you could call it downright dysfunctional. The streaming service’s two top promoters– Eddie Hearn and Oscar De La Hoya– have had major online beef recently, with the insults becoming quite personal. But the worst part for the wannabe Netflix of sports is not the social media nastiness, but what it could do for their already-struggling boxing product. With Saul Alvarez’s decision to align himself with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) for at least three fights, DAZN has lost its biggest star and the…

Promoter Eddie Hearn has been all over these last several days, speaking to media about a wide range of topics. Here’s just a brief recap of what the British hype man has been saying. On Canelo Alvarez moving away from him and aligning with PBC: We’ve done, I think, his last seven out of eight fights because we’ve had the opponents and the fights that he needs,” said Hearn. “We couldn’t make the Bivol fight. Therefore, I don’t ever fight for him. So, he’s going to make his move, and I think it’s a good move for him, in all…
